Four Years of Ghazouani's Rule: Achievements and Prospects in Education Sector




Since assuming office in 2020, President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani has made significant strides in advancing the education sector in Mauritania. With a focus on infrastructure development and accessibility, his administration has undertaken various initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education across the country.


One of the notable achievements during Ghazouani's presidency is the construction of 32 primary schools, providing essential educational infrastructure to underserved communities. Additionally, the establishment of 59 secondary education institutions has expanded access to higher levels of learning, laying the foundation for academic excellence among Mauritanian youth.


Recognizing the importance of early childhood education, the government has prioritized the construction of 12 kindergartens in rural areas, ensuring that children receive a solid educational foundation from an early age. Furthermore, the refurbishment of 28 educational institutions in the capital city of Nouakchott reflects the commitment to improving existing facilities and creating conducive learning environments for students.


In line with the broader vision for educational development, the Ghazouani administration has launched the ambitious "My Priorities" program, aimed at enhancing the educational landscape by constructing 2000 classrooms. While progress has been made with the completion of 1000 classrooms, there remains a commitment to fulfilling the remaining targets to meet the growing demand for quality education across Mauritania.


Looking ahead, there are promising prospects for further advancements in the education sector under President Ghazouani's leadership. With a continued focus on infrastructure development, teacher training, and curriculum reform, Mauritania is poised to achieve greater strides in providing inclusive and quality education for all its citizens.
